[Today’s K-pop] NCT Wish to meet Korean fans for 1st time

NCT Wish will take the stage as part of a concert in Seoul for the first time on March 4, announced label SM Entertainment on Thursday.
The band of six members are set to debut on Feb. 21, at the label’s all-star concert that will be held at Tokyo Dome. They will drop debut single “Wish” on Feb. 28 and the titular track will be included in the set list for the Seoul gig, dubbed “NCT Wish’s Wishlist.”
The bandmates will also talk about their preparations for debut and share their feelings of finally launching their music career. The live event will be broadcast online as well.
A pop-up store giving fans a peek at the band’s music is open in Seoul until Feb. 21.
BTS’ Jimin sets record on iTunes chart
Jimin of BTS added another record as his latest digital single “Closer Than This” topped the iTunes top songs chart in 116 regions so far.
He is the first-ever artist to have four songs that achieved the feat.
The musician released “Closer Than This” in December, offering consolation to fans who missed him after he enlisted.
“Like Crazy,” the main track from his first solo album “Face” and the first chart-topper on Billboard’s Hot 100 from a K-pop solo act, while “With You,” a drama theme song, topped iTunes top songs chart in all 119 regions. “Filter,” his solo song from the band’s fourth studio album, was No. 1 in 118.
Meanwhile, he said hello to fans via a fan community platform last week in time for the Lunar New Year holidays.
Apink’s Namjoo to return as solo act
Namjoo of Apink surprised fans with the news that she will release a solo album soon.
A logo image designed with the initials of her name, K, N, and J, was uploaded on Wednesday signaling her return as a solo singer. Details for the upcoming album will be available soon, according to agency Choi Creative Lab.
The lead vocalist of the girl group released her first solo single “Bird” in September 2020.
Four members of Apink signed with Choi Creative Lab last year after their contract with IST Entertainment came to an end after 12 years. Jung Eunji was the only one who stayed with the agency. All five of them promised that they will remain a group. Their last full-group album was the 10th EP “Self” that came out in April last year.
Mamamoo’s Moonbyul receives 100,000 pre-orders with 1st solo LP
Moonbyul of Mamamoo pre-sold more than 100,000 units of her upcoming first solo studio album, according to agency RBW Entertainment on Thursday.
Due out on Feb. 20, the LP “Starlit of Muse” is likely to reach a career-high for the songstress, surpassing the record her second single “Cheese in the Trap” set by selling 101,000 in the first week.
The LP consists of 12 tracks including two focus tracks – “Think About” and “Touchin&Movin.” She already unveiled the music video for the former which is themed after a social network feed.
In the meantime, a special exhibit on the forthcoming album is being held in Seoul from Thursday until Tuesday.
