Seven of the top 10-selling pop music CDs in the US in 2023 were K-pop albums, with the other three albums all coming from pop superstar Taylor Swift.
Swift's "Taylor's Version" topped the list with a total of 800,000 sales, according to an annual report for 2023 released by Luminate, an American music and entertainment industry data research firm. The singer's 10th studio album, "Midnights" and "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)," both sold about 260,000 copies, ranking eighth and ninth.
The third studio album, "Five-Star," and the eighth mini album, "Rock-Star," from JYP Entertainment's Stray Kids, respectively sold about 520,000 and 380,000 copies each, ranking in second and fourth place.
Four K-pop groups from Hybe were also featured on the list. TXT's fifth EP, "The Name Chapter: Temptation," ranked in third place with 440,000 copies sold. NewJeans' second EP, "Get Up," came in at fifth place, selling 330,000 copies. Seventeen sold 280,000 copies of its tenth EP, "FML," and took seventh place, while BTS' Jungkook sold 240,000 copies of his first solo album, "Golden." Jungkook is the only Korean soloist to be ranked on the list.
Twice, who recently finished their arena tour in the US, sold 300,000 copies of their twelfth EP, "Ready To Be," to rank in sixth place.
