CLASH cashes in for women’s charity

A charity music event in Seoul has raised more than 1 million won to help victims of sexual violence. CLASH 2.0 held at Hongdae’s Freebird on Saturday collected 1.3 million won ($1,120) for the Nabi (Butterfly) Fund.

The fund was created by victims of Japanese military sexual slavery Kim Bok-dong and Gil Won-ok in coordination with the Korean Council for the Women Drafted into Military Sexual Slavery by Japan to support other rape survivors. It supports the work of Rebecca Masika Katsuva on behalf of the women and children who are victims of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“Despite a few behind-the-scenes bumps, CLASH 2.0 was a great success,” one organizer said. “The artists brought their best and we had a very generous crowd willing to donate for such an important cause as the Nabi Fund. We raised about 1.3 million won for the fund and had about 100 people come out for the show. We were thrilled with the turnout and our amazing artists who donated their time to come perform.

“We are already gearing up for CLASH 3.0, coming this fall, so be on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks.”
