A Utah teenager died a day after she was found buried in the sand at Snow Canyon State Park, officials said.

Whitney Webb, 15, died Saturday at Primary Children‘s Medical Center, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

The teenager was at Snow Canyon State Park with her family Friday, playing with her younger siblings who were partially burying her in a hole about four feet deep, said Shauna Jones, of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

When the family was getting ready to leave, they got as far as the parking lot and noticed Whitney wasn‘t with them, Jones said.. They returned to find the girl fully submerged in the sand with only her hair sticking out.

Whitney was buried in the sand for a few minutes, which caused her to stop breathing.

A helicopter flew her to Dixie Regional Medical Center, where doctors were able to restore her pulse, but she remained in critical condition and was taken to Primary Children’s. (UPI)

휘트니는 금요일 가족과 공원에 놀러 갔다가 변을 당했다. 그녀는 여동생들과 놀던 중 1.2미터 깊이의 구멍에 몸의 일부를 묻었다고 워싱턴카운티 보안관 샤우나 존스(Shauna Jones)가 말했다.

자리를 뜨면서 주차장에 와서야 휘트니가 사라졌다는 사실을 안 가족은 휘트니를 찾으러 돌아갔다. 휘트니는 머리카락만 지면 위로 나온 채 모래 속에 묻혀 있었다.

휘트니가 모래에 묻혀 있었던 몇 분 동안 숨을 쉬지 못했던 것으로 전해졌다.

헬리콥터가 동원되어 그녀는 딕시지역의료센터(Dixie Regional Medical Center)로 옮겨졌고, 맥박을 살리는 데 성공했다. 그러나 상태가 심각해지자 PCMC로 옮겨졌던 것으로 알려졌다. (코리아헤럴드)
