Arizona authorities said they were looking for a young leukemia patient whose mother allegedly took her from the hospital a day before her scheduled discharge.

Phoenix police said the 11-year-old girl, identified only as Emily, has a catheter in her heart that could get infected and jeopardize her life, ABC News reported Sunday.

Surveillance video shows Emily, who recently fought off an infection and had an arm amputated, walking out of the Phoenix Children‘s Hospital Wednesday night, ABC News said.

“Her parents are now removing her from the hospital and putting her in danger by not providing that last bit of medical attention that she needs,” said Sgt. Steve Martos of the Phoenix Police Department.

The search has been difficult for officers, Martos said, the search has been difficult because Emily and her family are from Mexico and there are no records of them in the state.

Police said Emily’s mother, identified only as Norma, removed her daughter‘s IV before walking her out of the hospital in street clothes. The family left in a black van and have not been seen since. (UPI)

미국 애리조나 경찰 당국이 예정 퇴원일을 하루 앞두고 백혈병에 걸린 딸을 병원에서 데려간 어머니를 수배 중이라고 밝혔다.

애리조나 주 피닉스 경찰 측은 ‘에밀리’라는 이름으로 알려진 이 11세 소녀가 심장에 카테터 관을 설치받은 상태라 바이러스에 감염 시 생명이 위험할 수 있다고 밝혔다고 ABC뉴스가 지난 일요일 보도했다.

병원 감시카메라 영상에 백혈병으로 인해 한쪽 팔을 잃은 에밀리가 피닉스아동병원을 수요일 밤 걸어나가는 장면이 포착됐다고 ABC뉴스가 밝혔다.

피닉스 경찰서 스티브 마르토스 경사는 “아이의 부모들이 에밀리를 병원에서 데려감으로써 꼭 필요한 보호를 받지 못하게 하고, 생명을 위험하게 만들고 있다”고 말했다.

마르토스 경사는 에밀리의 가족이 멕시코에서 건너왔으며 미국 내에 이 가족에 대한 자료가 거의 없어 수색 작업에 난항을 겪고 있다고 밝혔다.

경찰 당국은 ‘노르마’라는 이름으로 알려진 에밀리의 어머니가 딸을 병원에서 데려나와 검은 밴에 태운 채 사라졌다고 덧붙였다. (코리아헤럴드)
