After months of public outcry, Adelaide’s historic Crown and Anchor hotel has been saves from the wrecking ball with the state government promising to introduce laws to protect the city pub and keep in a live music venue ‘forever’. But as a part of the compromise with developers, the Cranker will close for up to two years, while student accommodation will be built next door, ten stories higher than initially planned.
