Western Australia set to introduce 9-month recreational fishing ban

Despite protests from thousands of anglers, the West Australian government is set to introduce a nine-month annual recreational fishing ban to protect prized species including Pink Snapper and Dhufish. Recreational fishers are outraged they will be banned from catching demersal fish for most of the year while commercial operators will halve their catch along a 900-kilometre stretch of coastline.
