'Intelligent SUV' expected to hit European market in 2027
Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday provided a sneak peek of its upcoming compact sport utility vehicle Bayon, releasing three sketches.
Hyundai Motor India said the sketches showcase the automaker's evolving “Art of Steel” design language, which emphasizes sculpted surfaces, sharp character lines and architectural forms to create a more dynamic appearance.
At the front, the Bayon features a sculpted hood, pronounced fenders and Hyundai’s distinctive H-Edge lighting signature. The combination of the lighting elements and robust lower body treatment gives the vehicle a more pronounced SUV stance, according to the automaker.
The interior sketch offers a preview of a technology-focused cabin designed around connectivity and intuitive controls. Hyundai said the cabin is intended to combine advanced technology with a premium and comfortable environment for what it described as tech-savvy customers.
“As we introduce Bayon to India, we wanted it to make a confident first impression,” said Simon Loasby, senior vice president and head of Hyundai Design Center at Hyundai Motor Company.
"Our goal was to create an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, where intelligent technology and thoughtful design come together for modern urban lifestyles."
Further details on the Bayon, including specifications and official launch plans, are expected to be disclosed at a later date before the end of the year.
As the original Bayon already made its debut in Europe as a crossover SUV in 2021, auto industry observers forecast the Indian version to be the second generation, and that it will likely also release in the European market next year.
