South Korean confectionery company Orion said Tuesday that accumulated sales of Kkobuk Chip had surpassed 50 billion won ($45 million) since its launch in March last year.

Approximately 46 million packs of the corn chips had been sold as of this month, according to the company. This translates to some 100 million won worth of chips sold daily. 

Driven by the popularity of the corn soup-flavored snack, Orion began producing Kkobuk Chip in Shanghai, China, last month under the Chinese name “Lang Li Ge Lang.” 

The chips will also be sold in the US and Taiwan from this month, according to the company.

Orion said it would gradually expand its product portfolio in overseas markets by launching differentiated flavors. In February, Orion released the chips in two flavors -- shrimp and sweet cinnamon. 

“We expect Kkobuk Chip to become our new growth engine to lead sales both in domestic and overseas markets. We hope to solidify our base as a confectionary company globally, following the hit Choco Pie,” said an official from Orion. 

Orion’s iconic snack Choco Pie is its best-seller in countries like China, accounting for 40 percent of total sales last year.
