The drama was chosen to air in Japan, five months after the Japanese broadcasting company stopped programming Korean dramas in their schedule. The vocalist of the boy band FT Island Lee Hong-gi’s foray into acting has also been a hot issue and the words about the drama has been spreading fast among viewers since its first episode aired.
“Bride of the Century” is popular in Japan’s DVD market as well. According to the largest rental shop in Japan, TSUTAYA, it dominated the top five Korean drama rental rankings, gaining tremendous popularity in the DVD rental service market.
Lee Hong-gi is slated to hit the stage of the Japanese rock festival “Inazuma Rock Fes 2014” on Sept. 14.
Also, SBS’ weekend drama series “Modern Farmer,” in which Lee Hong-gi plays the main character, will air its first episode on Oct. 18.
