P&G Korea said it has appointed Lee Sue-kyung as general manager, marking the first time a Korean woman will lead the local branch of the multinational American corporation, known for brands such as Pantene and Pringles.

Lee, who currently serves as a marketing director at P&G Asia’s headquarters in Singapore, will start her new duties on July 1.

Upon taking office, the 46-year-old Lee will also become the first employee to rise to the position after joining the company as an entry-level employee. She started out as an assistant brand manager at P&G Ltd. Korea in 1994.

Company officials said that Lee, who has served in various positions throughout the years, has been instrumental in the successful introduction of P&G products to the Korean market.
