First big battery goes live at Hazelwood power station

A large-scale battery storage system has been switched on in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley. Built on the site of the former Hazelwood coal-fired power station the battery is charged by rooftop solar systems and while its output is relatively small for now it's being hailed as the first step in the region's transition to renewable energy.
